Greening Your Product Line

Greening your product line is easier than you may think. Here are the three easiest ways to begin the process.

1.  Design Process- The problem many companies have is that they throw on eco-friendly options at the end of the design process. With this method, the products aren't truly green. Also people who are experienced eco-friendly shoppers can tell the product is not actually environmentally friendly.

2. Outsource as much as possible-Another reason your products may not be green is because you are spending all your time running your business. You should outsource what you don't like doing. Anything you are not great at should be outsourced. Elance is the best place to get started with outsourcing.

3. Find the expertise you need-If you are a small company, it may not be feasible for you to learn how to green your product line or to hire someone in house to do so.  This is where elance comes to the rescue again. You can post a project on elance for an industrial engineer to take your existing product and green it. So if you don't have the expertise, go out and get it.

The main point is if you aren't already an expert on green product, outsource to experts who know how to do it. Doing it half-heartedly will show through when your customers look at your finished product.
